COVID-19 Update #5 - Changes to operating hours

Well, we have been back in action for nearly 7 weeks now & it’s been great having everyone back training at the gym. Big thanks to everyone for following the new health & hygiene rules, it has kept the gym clean & safe and most importantly, allowed us to stay open.

As you all know, there has been an increase in COVID-19 cases in NSW recently. As a result, The NSW Government announced yesterday that all gyms in NSW require a COVID Marshall during their opening hours. The role of this person is to ensure all health & hygiene measures are followed strictly in gyms at all times. This is a great initiative for hygiene however has an unfortunate consequence for gyms.

Currently Bondi Gym operates with staffed & unstaffed hours. From Saturday 1st August, we will not be able to offer unstaffed hours without a COVID Marshall. As such, we will need to suspend unstaffed access to the gym until such time as the COVID Marshall requirement is lifted. For most people who already attend during the current staffed hours, this will make no difference. For some others, you may need to adjust your times and days to fit the new schedule. Of course, to offset this change we have extended our staffed hours to help. The most important thing to remember is that we are all working together to keep the gym open and keep you training. Your continued support of the new hours along with following the health & hygiene protocols is greatly appreciated.

Here are the new hours, staffed and supervised by our COVID Marshalls:

Mon - Thu: 6am-1pm, 3pm-8.30pm

Fri: 6am-1pm, 3pm-7pm

Sat: 7am-2pm

Please note that you will not be able to access the gym outside of these hours.

Also, as a reminder, here are the hygiene protocols we all need to follow as dictated by the NSW Health Department:

  • Don’t come to the gym if you are sick or have any COVID symptoms

  • Scan your key-tag every time on entering the gym to record your attendance

  • Hand sanitiser on entry to the gym

  • Use a towel on all equipment

  • Clean equipment with spray and paper towel before & after use

  • Maintain 1.5m spacing in the gym
